Riverport Railroad, LLC. (RVPR) operates a short line railroad that serves a commercial, industrial and distribution complex at the former Savanna Army Ordinance Depot (the Savanna Depot). The Savanna Depot, now named Savanna Depot Business & Technology Park, is located in northwestern Illinois, on the Mississippi River, 40 miles south of Wisconsin and across the river from Bellevue, Iowa and just south of Hanover, Illinois. At present RVPR owns 337 acres of land and 72 miles of rail on a railroad right-of-way of 664 acres at the Savanna Depot. RVPR also has the contractual right to buy an additional 759 acres of land. In total RVPR owns and or controls approximately 1,760 acres. When the option to buy an additional 277 acres from the Jo-Carroll Local Redevelopment Authority (LRA) is exercised RVPR will own and or control approximately 2,000 acres.
Riverport Railroad “RVPR” has the ability to meet most long and short term railcar storage and switching needs with over 50 plus miles of track that is in operation for storage of up to 2,500 railcars. Interchange is provided with BNSF at Robinson Spur and receives service two days a week with additional days as needed for unit trains.
Rail transloading sites are available with highway access and a truck scale onsite.
Riverport Railroad hosts Rescar on our site. Rescar provides railcar repair, interior coating repair, railcar cleaning, testing and inspection, billing and NDT services.
Riverport Railroad has ownership and management of approximately 2200 acres of land for industrial and commercial development. All property is rail served and can be modified to meet the customers need. Water and sewer is available on site and there is electric 3 phase service throughout the property.
